The Political Development Fund for the Civil Sector, administered by the Political Development Council (PDC) organized two training workshops to teach relevant project management skills to local administrative organization and civil society group members on July 11-13, 2010.

Communities and civil groups are able to recognize local needs and opportunities that are not necessarily evident to more distant observers or officials. The Political Development Fund for the Civil Sector, administered by the Political Development Council (PDC), exists to help communities and civil groups act on these needs and opportunities.Unfortunately, local groups sometimes lack the administrative skills required to apply for funding and conduct projects in accordance with the PDC’s, or other fund provider s’ regulations. The Office of Promoting Politics of the People has recognized local people’s need for greater project management ability, and has therefore organized two training workshops to teach relevant project management skills to local administrative organization and civil society group members.

Two workshops were held: one at Hotel Felix River Kwai Resort, Kanchanaburi, on July 11-13, 2010, and one at Diamond Plaza Hotel Hat Yai, Songkhla, on July 18-20, 2010.  Participants were drawn from among tambol community council and civil society group representatives on the PDC and members of KPI’s Parliamentary Civil Society Centre network. The training aimed to promote learning and develop skills for project planning and management, so participants might be better able to take advantage of funding opportunities from the PDC and other organizations.
